HQ Western Command 136 (I) Inf Bde GP Porter coy will recruit 600 eligible candidates for Civ Labour (Porters) posts. Selected candidates for HQ Western Command Jobs will get accommodation while on duty depending upon the availability of the same. Conveyance will also be provided. However, on completion of the engagement, free conveyance from place of duty to a place of recruitment. Individuals will be given other perks such as free rations at the scale of combatant soldiers, one day leave after 06 days of working and each individual will be entitled 03 national holidays. • Mate/Barber/Washerman/Cook/Tailor/Egpt Repairer/Carpenter etc – Passed 10th Class / Matriculation

About Western Command:

Western Command is a formation of the Indian Army, active since 1947. It was active during the Indo-Pakistan Wars of 1947, 1965 and 1971. Lieutenant-General Surinder Singh is the current commander. The armies of the presidency were abolished as of April 1, 1895, when the three armies of the presidency became the Indian army. The Indian army was divided into four commandments (command of Bengal, command of Bombay, command of Madras and command of Punjab), each under the authority of a lieutenant general. In 1908, the four commandos merged into two armies (Armies of the North and South): this system persisted until 1920, when the agreement became four (Commandments of the East, Command of the North and South). In 1938, the Western Command was demoted to a Western Independent District commanded by a Major General. The North Command was reestablished as a Northwest Army in April 1942 to protect the Northwest Frontier and the Independent District was absorbed by the new Northwest Army at that time.
