About Municipal Service Commission, West Bengal
Kolkata Municipal Corporation or KMC (in the past Calcutta Municipal Corporation or CMC) is answerable for the city foundation and organization of the city of Kolkata. This community authoritative body manages a region of 205 square kilometres (79 sq mi). Its proverb, Purosree Bibardhan, is recorded on its token in Bengali content. KMC is going by Firhad Hakim the present Mayor of Kolkata. Kolkata Municipal Corporation was set up in 1876. Under the direction of the principal Minister of Local Self-Government in Bengal, Sir Surendranath Banerjee, the Calcutta Municipal Act of 1923 made arrangements for the liberation of ladies and the appointment of a Mayor of Kolkata yearly.
The city is partitioned into 144 regulatory wards that are assembled into 16 boroughs. Each of these wards chooses a councillor for the KMC. Every precinct has an advisory group comprising of the councillors chose from the individual wards of the districts. The Corporation, through the precinct advisory groups, keeps up government-supported schools, clinics, and metropolitan markets and participates in urban arranging and street maintenance. The partnership as the summit body releases its capacity through the Mayor-in-Council, comprising of a civic chairman, helped by an appointee civic chairman, and ten other chosen individuals from the KMC.
