Assam PSC Pre Exam Pattern is given here. The APSC Combined Competitive Written Examination consists of two stages:
- The Preliminary.
- The Main Examination.

Viewing the results of the candidates in the Preliminary Examination, the number of contenders to be chosen for the Main Examination will be 11 to multiple times the number of openings told. Here are some guidelines that the candidates need to follow. Therefore the Candidates cannot have the following combinations of subjects
- Mathematics & Statistics
- Philosophy & Psychology
- Sociology & Anthropology
- Veterinary Science and Agriculture & Animal Husbandry
- However not more than one subject amongst all the Engineering subjects
The APSC Commission will decide what will be the cutoff marks for each subject. The cutoff marks will be based on the level of difficulty of the exam and the number of candidates appearing for the exam.
Interview Test: Total of 200 marks
- There will not be qualifying marks or cutoff marks for the Interview. However, at the end of the interview, the marks obtained by the candidates will be added to the total marks scored and the rankings will be decided according to that. The candidates will be called for an interview by the board.
- The results obtained in the main exam will determine whether the candidate will be called for the interview or not. The selection will be based on the performance of the candidate in the exam.
- Candidates will be allocated with posts according to their preference keeping in mind the marks they obtain in the exam.
- Any candidate will not be forced to accept for a post which He/She has not opted for.

Assam Public Service Commission
The Assam Public Service Commission came into existence on 1st April 1937 in accordance with the provision of the Govt. of India Act, 1935. The Assam Public Service Commission has to perform the duties and functions as specified in its Regulations.
