About Board:
West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) was built up in 2007 after the unbundling of the state power leading group of West Bengal and giving the capacity to 96% of West Bengal with a client base of more than 1.68 crores over the State. The organization has accomplished a benefit of ₹95.13 crores (US$14 million or €12 million) (PAT) in the financial year 2010-11. The Government of West Bengal unbundled the past West Bengal State Electricity Board (WBSEB) into two organizations viz., West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) and West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company (WBSETCL).
The fundamental business of WBSEDCL is circulation and hydro age of power. Likewise, the Nodal Agency of the Government of West Bengal for undertaking Rural Electrification task in the State with a target of giving energy access to every rustic family unit in the State by the National Rural Electrification Policy. After fruitful execution of Purulia Pumped Storage Project in tenth Plan period with a limit of 900 MW hydel control, the Company has taken up the driven arrangement of actualizing Turga Pumped Storage Project in the thirteenth Plan time frame with an introduced limit of 4 x 250 MW.
