About Board:
In accordance with the provisions of sub-section (1) of section 23 of the RTE Act, the National Council for Teacher Education had to vide Notification dated 23rd August 2010 laying down the minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment a teacher in various levels of classes. It had been, among other things, provided that one of the essential qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher for classes I to VIII in any of the schools referred to in clause (n) of section 2 of the RTE Act is that they should pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) which the appropriate Government will conduct by the Guidelines framed by the national council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
Accordingly, the Government of Tripura has constituted the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT) to conduct of Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for the selection of candidates at the elementary level (for classes I to VIII) as well as the conduct of Selection Test for Graduate Teachers (for types IX-X) and Selection Test for Post Graduate Teachers (for classes XI-XII) for a recommendation of recruitment of teachers.
Presently, the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT) office is located on the premises of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Kunjaban, Agartala, and exercises power throughout the state Tripura.
